Souvim2

SOUVIM 2 (Système d’OUVerture d’Itinéraire Miné) is a countermining route clearing system. Developed by MBDA specifically for the French armed forces, SOUVIM 2 provides the capability to conduct rapid route clearance and mobility support missions. The system is comprised of a comprehensive suite of mine detection and decoy sub-systems. It is made up of several vehicles, each with complimentary functions:
- VDM (Vehicule Détecteur de Mines): A mine protected lead vehicle deployed for detection and decoy (pre-detonation) functions.
- VTR (Véhicule Tracteur de Remorques): A mine protected vehicle used to tow pressure decoy trailers
- RDM (Remorques Déclencheuses de Mines): A suite of pressure decoy trailers designed to activate all known pressure activated mines. The system also incorporates a paint-based lane marking system to mark the cleared route.
SOUVIM 2 has been optimised to provide a rapid route opening capability, capable of clearing up to 150 km (approx 93 Miles) of route in a single day. Key technologies and sub-systems include:
- CALIFE modular decoy frame with integrated mine rollers
- Ultra-low ground pressure ‘stealth’ tyres
- DEDALE magnetic decoy system
- IR decoy system
- Lane Marking System
- Integrated vehicle based detection systems
